THE LATEST ON THE POSSIBLE SNOWMOBILE TRAIL AT THE PARK

On Wednesday, December 10th, the Natural Resources Board approved starting a master plan review process for Blue Mound State Park to consider including a snowmobile trail.

With the board action, the DNR will now begin a more thorough review of the request for a snowmobile trail through the park.  Public meetings will be scheduled and a comment period held.  A final proposal would then be brought back to the DNR board for approval in 2015.

Of interest to all silent sports enthusiasts who love Blue Mound State Park:

At the next meeting of the DNR board on December 10th there is going to be a discussion on a proposed amendment to the master plan to allow a snowmobile trail through the park.  See the DNR website for further information.  Scroll down to number B. 4. under Action Items. Note that it says written comment only.  Comments are due by 11 AM, December 5th. Guidelines for submitting written comments are given here.

We had a beautiful day and a lot of enthusiastic runners for the Blue Mound Trail Run on Saturday, June 7

Spring is finally here and pretty soon the spring wild flowers will be popping up at the park.  It’s a great time to go for a hike or run on the trails.

She likes to run on the single track bike trails at the park.  She says, “What a gorgeous piece of land!  The trails are carved into the hilly terrain and offer spectacular views of the dolomite and chert outcroppings.”  More park photos at her website.
